A volunteer in the Crafton Volunteer Fire Department begins with an application, interview and a physical exam (at the expense of the department). Upon successful completion, you will be brought onto the department as a Probationary Member. Residents of the communities of Crafton, Rosslyn Farms, and Thornburg, over the age of 16, are welcome to join as a Crafton Volunteer Firefighter or an Emergency Medical Responder. During a one-year probationary term, you will be required to attend training, practices and drills, fire and E.M.S. calls and all other functions of the Crafton Volunteer Fire Department.
Teamwork
Along with training and acquired skills, one of the most valued assets you will gain from the fire and E.M.S. services is that of working as a team. Emergency Services Personnel learn to depend on each other and work together. Teamwork is a vital skill and part of being an emergency responder
Skills That Last a Life Time
Throughout your career as a Volunteer Firefighter or Emergency Medical Responder, you will learn and practice skills that will be yours and last a lifetime. The Crafton Volunteer Fire Department offers you hands-on training and experience that will not only help your community but will provide you with skills that will help you, your family, and even your co-workers every day of your life.
Commitment
The commitment that you make as a Volunteer Firefighter or E.M.S. provider is not only to the Fire Department but also to the communities in which the Department protects. This is a commitment that you and your family must agree with. The hours vary and at times are long, the work is hard and the conditions are potentially hazardous. Your greatest goal in succeeding will be your pride and self-respect. If you believe you have what it takes to become a Crafton Volunteer Fire Department Member, we ask that you join our team.
